Monoflange valve is an alternative to a multiple valve system. It consists of a vent hole, a block valve and a bleed valve. The valve is specifically designed to provide installation for instruments like transmitter and gauge.

The main function of Monoflange valve is the shutting off and venting of pressure measuring instruments. Though they work just like traditional valves, they are compact in design. They are suitable for processes that involve aggressive substances.

As far as different series of Monoflange valves are concerned, they are instrument Monoflange and process Monoflange. Based on the need, they can be obtained from monoflange valves manufacturers.

How do the functionality gets affected?

Monoflanges combine the function of three valves in a compact body. Since the design involves precise network of valve chambers and internal passages, they bring great efficiency and performance.

When there is a specific need, such as a chemical process; you need very high response speed and controlled application. An important aspect that can decide performance is the volume of the fluid and the distance to be travelled between instruments and process.

If the medium that is to be measured in the process is gas, then the process may fluctuate considerably at times.

Or when you want critical control, the solution is to mount the instrument near the process.

Another critical element that affects the functionality of these Instrumentation Valves is vibration. The longer the hook-up, the wider is the amplitude of the vibration. It may cause a possible failure of the nozzle.

In a Monoflange valve, you have needle valves (either one, two, or three in number) that are fit into a compact, flange-shaped body. Due to the compact design, this valve has a significant reduction in volume, dimension, weight and potential leakage points.

The best solution is Monoflange

In a Monoflange with two valves (block & bleed), one valve (isolates the process. The other valve controls the venting of the medium, which is trapped inside the instrument.

It is mostly done in applications that are comparatively uncritical, like low pressure applications. The best and the safest configuration is a Monoflange Valve. Whether it is a Three-Valve option or Double Block and Bleed option, it is a great choice.

To connect the annular valve chambers, the Monoflange bodies are drilled internally with holes.

Working and functionality of Monoflange valve is as follows:

  • When the first shut-off valve opens, the flow proceeds to the second shut-off valve. And when this second valve opens, the instrument gate is connected to the process line.
  • When the first shut-off valve is closed, the vent valve is the only way to release the medium trapped between the valve and the instrument. To make the flow smooth, the shut-off valves are kept in an angled position.

The best isolation from the process is achieved by the two shut-off valves, If the first shut-off valve does not isolate the medium properly, the second shut-off valve safeguards from accidental leak.

Thus a Monoflange Valve is a useful component in many industrial applications.
